Labour Unions call 3-day strike from Oct 5

Labour unions announced a three-day strike in Coal India, its subsidiary and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) from October 5. This decision was taken in the joint meeting of the five central labor unions working in the coal industry. The meeting was held in Ranchi on Thursday. Notice of the strike notice has been sent by labor organizations to the Chairman of Coal India and SCCL.

Representatives of BMS, HMS, INTUC, AITUC, CITU were present in the meeting. It was unanimously decided that if Coal India and SCCL management decides to stop or reduce the pre-determined wages and allowances, then all the five central labor unions of the coal industry will go on strike on October 5, 6 and October 7.

In the notice sent to the management, the labor unions have said that on May 20, the lawful NCWA-11 agreement was concluded between the management of Coal India and SCCL and the trade unions working in them. After the agreement, the salary for the month of July-August, 2023 was paid in August and September, 2023.

It is feared that the workers (Non-Executives) working in Coal India and SCCL and its subsidiary companies, departments, establishments will not be paid the old salaries of NCWA-10 of September, 2023.
Labor organizations said that their demand is that all the employees working in Coal India, Singareni Collieries Company Limited and all the subsidiary companies should be paid their salaries for the month of September, 2023 on time in October and as per NCWA-11.

If the management of Coal India, SCCL does not do this, then a three-day strike will be observed in Coal India, SCCL and its subsidiaries including their headquarters from October 5 to October 7, 2023. During this period, workers of all the institutions of Coal India, SCCL and their subsidiary companies including the headquarters will remain on strike.

The strike notice has been signed by BMS's K Lakshma Reddy, Majrul Haq Ansari, INTUC's Kumar Jaimanal Singh, AK Jha, HMS's Nathulal Pandey, RB Raghavan, AITUC's Ramendra Kumar, Ashok Yadav.
