DMCseeks action against BJP leader

New Delhi:  The Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) has issued a notice to the police seeking a report on action against BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga over his tweet allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Sikhs. The notice issued by DMC member APS Bindra has sought the report from Delhi Police till May 17.  Bagga, a spokesperson of the Delhi BJP, alleged that the notice by the DMC was issued at the behest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.  Bagga was picked up from Delhi by Punjab Police last year in a case registered in Mohali in the AAP-ruled state.

Prison dept meets with THSC for inmate jobs

New Delhi:  The Delhi Prisons Department held a meeting with the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) to discuss job opportunities for the inmates currently being trained in the hospitality sector.  The meeting was convened on Tuesday as a part of the ongoing National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) project in Tihar Jails. It was presided over by Sanjay Baniwal, Director General (prisons).  In the statement, Baniwal mentioned that many initiatives are being taken by the prison department for reforming prisoners and ensuring their reintegration into the society.

SMIPAC achievment award conferred on plk Pandit

New Delhi: PLK Pandit, Doyen of Gwalior Gharana, was conferred SMIPAC lifetime achievement award for his invaluable contribution to enrich Hindustani Classical music at the Triveni Kala Sangam in the national Capital on Sunday. Supported by Peoples’ Foundation the ceremony witnessed mesmerizing live performances by reputed artists such as Meeta Pandit, Ajay Prasanna, Ayush Mohan, Mithilesh Jha in jugalbandis in the presence of People’s Foundation President and veteran journalist VN Jha, according to a Press release by the foundation.  

surmala 2023 organised by UAWKT

New Delhi : A superlative music recital, Surmala 2023 was organised by the Ustad Abdul Waheed Khan Trust (UAWKT) at Triveni Auditorium here on Thursday. Renowned flautist Pt. Rajendra Prasanna played Rag Shree accompanied by his son Rajesh Prasanna also on the flute and Abhishek Mishra on the tabla. The finale was a sarangi duet of Raga Bageshree with Padmashri Ustad Moinuddin Khan and his son Momin Khan with Pt Mithilesh Kumar Jha on the tabla. UAWKT was founded by sarangi Nawaz Ustad Arif Ali Khan of the Kairana Gharana.
