A Prosthetics and Orthotics awareness program was organized on Monday on the occasion of International Prosthetic and Orthotic Day by the Prosthetic and Orthotics Unit of PMR Department of AIIMS Bhopal for the empowerment of disabled people.

During the program, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh while praising the Prosthetic and Orthotic Section said that the department is doing a good job by facilitating the provision of orthotic aids and appliances to the patients in the Central India region. He advised to continue efforts and connect with other national organizations to facilitate the provision of high quality orthotic and prosthetic aids to the needy patients. Such events will not only help the students of different specialties but also the patients to understand the functioning of the equipment. Dr. Singh said that with our hard work we will develop the PMR department as a center of excellence for the rehabilitation of disabled people in Central India.

During the programme, the orthosis made by the Prosthetic and Orthotic Section was distributed by the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh.

International Prosthetics and Orthotics Day is celebrated every year on November 5. The theme of this year is "Enabling and Empowering". On this occasion, modern prostheses, orthosis, car modifications, and wheelchair bikes were displayed to create awareness. Students of Sagar Public School also showed keen interest in this exhibition.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajneesh Joshi, Dean (Academics), Dr. Rehan Ul Haq, Dean (Research), Colonel Dr. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Administration), Dr. Shashank Purwar, Medical Superintendent Dr. John Santoshi, Dr. Vitthal. Prakash Puri, Dr. Anuradha Diwakar Shenoy and many senior faculty members and other members were present.
