Saturday, 07 October 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

Exercising the power under Essential Commodities Act 1956, the Uttar Pradesh government has directed the pulses traders to make a weekly declaration of stocks on the government’s portal.

Traders who have not yet registered have also been directed to register immediately on the portal and declare their weekly stocks through the designated portal.

According to orders issued by the food and civil supplies department, district magistrates have been asked to ensure that dealers, importers, millers, stockist and traders working in the state should register themselves on the Government of India portal http://fcainfoweb.nic.in/psp and declare their stock on every Friday.

As per the latest update, a total of 1,878 pulse traders are registered on the Central government’s portal, and they have declared a total stock of 1,38,442 metric tons, which includes 24,686 metric tons of tur dal, 16,376 metric tons of urad dal and 39,150 metric tons of masoor dal.

The orders under EC Act have been issued with the aim of curbing hoarding to keep a check on price rise during the festival season. The food department will conduct inspections and verifications of the stocks held by the pulse traders to effectively implement the revised stock limit announced by the Central government.

Statistically, the least number of registrations have been reported from Ambedkar Nagar (4), Amroha (4), Kannauj (5), Kasganj (6), Shravasti (6), Farrukhabad (7), Etawah (7), Amethi (9), Mainpuri (9) and Sultanpur (9). Instructions have been issued to expedite the registration process in these districts.
