Two security personnel were injured on Monday when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Maoists exploded in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.

The blast took place in the Kistaram area when the security personnel were providing security to road construction work, Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said.

The Central Reserve Police Force’s 217th battalion, the 208th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and the district force were involved in the operation. When the team was cordoning off the area near Saltong, two personnel came in contact with the IED connection, triggering the blast.
