Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan today while addressing the closing ceremony of the Eastern Region Agricultural Fair-2024 (Sustainable and Circular Bio-Economy – Self-reliant and Developed India) organized by ICAR-National Institute of Agricultural Secondary Agriculture Namkum at Torpa, Khunti, said that the Kisan Fair organized on the land of Birsa Munda is a remarkable initiative taken in the interest of farmers. In this fair, farmers received training in new agricultural techniques as well as modern agricultural methods and advanced organic farming and progressive farmers from different places also shared their experiences. This will definitely increase their productivity as well as income.

Governor said that the Prime Minister started ‘PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana’ for the welfare of farmers. He decided to celebrate Tribal Pride Day on November 15, 2023 (birth date of Lord Birsa Munda). He said that with Minister Arjun Munda assuming the charge of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, the farmers of the eastern region will become aware and agriculture will be promoted according to the climate of this region.

He said that the farmers will get information about which crop is best for the soil here. This can bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector. He also called upon the farmers to adopt other alternative sources of income along with agriculture like horticulture, vegetable production, flower production, goat rearing, cow rearing etc.

The Governor said that this Kisan Mela will prove to be a boon for the farmers and they will be inspired for improved agriculture. On this occasion, he honoured the farmers and while giving best wishes, he said, 'May the food giver be happy'.
