7.5 mm rains recorded on Friday in April, after 30 years

Bhopal received 7.5 mm of rain intermittently on the night of Friday and with this addition the 30 year old record of rainfall in the month of April was also broken. In the year 1994, there was 40.7 mm or 1.6 inches of rain in April, whereas this time 43.9 mm, or 1.7 inches of water has fallen in just 12 days. The weather department has predicted more rain for the next 2 days.

There has been storms and rain in Bhopal for the last five days. The weather changes every afternoon. On April 10, 29.8 mm rainfall was recorded in 24 hours. At the same time, it started raining again after 8 pm on Friday night, which continued till late night. Till 8 am on Saturday, the Meteorological Department recorded 7.5 mm of rain.

According to meteorologists, along with breaking the 30-year-old record in April, an all-time record has also been made because it has never rained so much in April before.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain today and Saturday also. Although it has been sunny since morning, the weather may change in the afternoon. Hail is also expected at some places. Drizzle is expected on April 14 and 15, while the weather may clear from April 16. Due to rain, the temperature dropped on the night of Friday-Saturday and it was recorded at 20.2 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, 10 years ago on April 20, 2013, there was 30.8 mm of rain i.e. 1.25 inches in 24 hours. This is the record of highest rainfall within 24 hours in the month of April. After this, there was never this much rainfall in April between 2014 and 2023. This time on April 10, there was 29.8 mm rainfall in 24 hours. This record could not be broken due to 1 mm less rainfall.

There has been rainfall for 8 years between 2014 and 2024. There was no rain in the years 2016, 2017 and 2022, whereas last year 22.6 mm i.e. more than a quarter inch of water had fallen. This time also there is a rainy season in April.

Storm, rain and hail have been continuing in Madhya Pradesh for the last 6 days. Similar weather may prevail on Saturday also. Strong storms and light rain is expected in half of the state. Hail may also fall in 13 districts including Narmadapuram, Chhindwara.

During the last 24 hours, a total of 112 cities and towns of 30 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain received light and heavy rain at some places. Storm and hailstorm also continued in some districts. Highest rainfall was recorded in Sehore district. Bhaironda (Nasrullaganj) of Sehore received 2.2 inches of rain, Jawar 1.7 inches, Ichhawar 1.5 inches, Ashta 1.3 inches and Rehti 0.7 inches. About 1 inch of rain was recorded in Kesli of Sagar.

Due to Western Disturbance, Cyclonic Circulation and passing of trough line, hailstorm season is prevailing in the state. Due to this, since April 7, there has been light rain in some places and heavy rain in some places in the state. At the same time, storm and hail can also fall.

In Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Guna, Dewas, Narmadapuram, Betul, Barwani, Khargone, Indore, Ashoknagar, Ujjain, Bhopal, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Harda, Rajgarh, Sagar, Chhindwara, Sidhi, Panna, Damoh, Balaghat, Satna, Shahdol, Katni, Rewa, Umaria, Seoni and Singrauli districts rainfall was recorded.
