BJP defends removal of Deoghar SP

Thursday, 04 April 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP state spokesperson and former IPS officer Arun Oraon today reacted strongly to the statement of JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya defending the Election Commission direction on removal of Deoghar SP Ajit Peter Dungdung.

Oraon said that till now 8 DMs and 12 SPs of 5 states have been removed on the instructions of the Election Commission in the country, which also includes the SP of Deoghar. But the panic of JMM shows that Deoghar SP is not a state police officer but a JMM worker.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday removed Deoghar SP Ajit Peter Dungdung asking him to hand over the charge to his immediate junior officer. The ECI also barred him from any poll- related duty.
The poll panel also asked the state administration to fill up the panel of officials for occupying the posts of Ranchi SP (Rural), DIG Palamu, and IG Dumka.

Oraon said that JMM was scared of the shadow of its defeat. It is yet to face defeat.

He said that the Election Commission is an impartial constitutional institution which is committed to conducting fair elections in the country. But JMM considers itself above all this. The organization which is not favorable to them becomes a supporter of BJP.

He said that JMM Thugbandhan was enjoying power in the state on the results declared by the same EVM machine and the Election Commission which JMM was abusing.

He said that transfer and posting of officers is the right of the Commission. It is their duty to take action on receiving complaints. Then JMM's anger is like a cat scratching a pillar.

He said that the JMM should remember the achievements of its government. How the DSP who reported the sleeper cell in Lohardaga was transferred overnight. How a police officer had to face punishment for taking action against a militant in the Tamar elections.

He said that on one hand JMM is confident that the investigation process will not stop even after transfer, then why so much fuss? Then why did the government feel the need to cover up the Election Commission? The officer who will go should conduct an investigation and punish the guilty.

He said that JMM is surrounded by an all-round crisis. The public has lost faith in their party, their leaders and their thinking. The action against corruption has frightened them.

He said that INDI Thugbandhan is counting its last breaths in Jharkhand.
