CEO visits polling booths, appeals to villagers for voting

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar inspected various polling stations located at Mandar in Lohardaga Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections and the first phase of Jharkhand state to be held on May 13, 2024. During the inspection, Deputy Development Commissioner of Ranchi district, Block Development Officer of Mandar etc were present.

The Chief Electoral Officer inspected the polling stations with low voting percentage during the last election and observed the preparations for the voting. He inspected the polling stations located at Rajkiyakrit Upgraded Middle School, Budhakhukhara, Rajkiyakrit Upgraded High School Mahuwajadi, Rajkiyakrit Primary School, Dumri and Rajkiyakrit Middle School, Cambo and Rajkiyakrit Upgraded Middle School, Gurgudjadi. During the inspection, he expressed displeasure over the laxity of the BLO supervisor in the election work and warned him to work properly.

He gave clear instructions to the BLOs engaged in election work to complete the distribution of voter information slips within two days. He asked the BLO supervisor to complete this work soon. He also directed the officials associated with the election work to complete the election related preparations on time and ensure minimum basic facilities at the polling centers such as pure drinking water, clean toilets and running water in them soon.

He reviewed the list of absent, shift and death (ASD) and the list related to the polling center awareness group. He took stock of the seating arrangement of the presiding officer and other election workers in the polling booth, electricity connection, light and fan etc. He also took information about the age group of volunteers to be used on the day of polling and gave necessary guidelines. During the inspection, he also interacted with the villagers and appealed to them to vote.

The Chief Electoral Officer, while inspecting the polling centers, made a surprise inspection of the branch post office of Budha Khukhara and took information related to the voter cards coming there. He said that whatever voter ID cards have been received in the post office, ensure their distribution soon.

During the inspection of the Chief Electoral Officer, Ranchi's Deputy Development Commissioner, Deputy Electoral Officer, Block Development Officer, BLO Supervisor and other officers associated with the election work were present.
