CRPF 158 Battalion celebrates Valour Day at Lohardaga

Bravery Day was celebrated by CRPF 158 Battalion at Headquarters, Lohardaga. On this occasion, CRPF 158 Battalion Commandant Rahul Kumar took the salute of the Special Guard deployed at the quarter guard. The Commandant congratulated all the officers and soldiers and their families on CRPF Bravery Day, and remembering the past, said that on this very day, 09 April 1965, Sardar was killed in Ran Kutch (Gujarat) on the Indian border by the Infantry Brigade of Pakistan Army.

Operation "Desert Hawk" launched against the post and talk post was foiled by the determination and valor of the CRPF personnel deployed at the post. In which CRPF soldiers held back a brigade of Pakistani infantry for 12 hours, which is a unique operational action in the history of military warfare. In the said action, the soldiers of a small contingent of paramilitary force foiled the planned attack of a Pakistani brigade. In this, 34 soldiers of Pakistani Army were killed and 4 were captured alive.

8 CRPF soldiers were martyred while fighting the enemies in the line of duty. To remember the brave deeds done by the warriors of Sardar Post, this great day is celebrated every year on 09 April as Bravery Day. The Commandant expressed hope and said that I have full confidence that in the future too, everyone will continue to serve the country and the force by developing their high level of devotion to duty and professional ability day by day.

Even when difficult situations arise, the soldiers of the 158th battalion will continue to fulfill the battalion's motto - Always Shrestha - 158. On this occasion, all the officers and soldiers present along with the Commandant respectfully remembered all those brave men who have maintained the tradition of the force by sacrificing their lives. Thereafter the Commandant made a special entry in the visitor's book of the quarter guard. On this occasion, Shrimati Gangiya Devi, wife of martyr Shiv Narayan Bhagat, was honored by the Commandant by gifting her a flower pot and a shawl.

In this sequence, a military conference was organized at 158 Battalion Headquarters and at 1900 in the evening, a big dinner was also organized jointly in all the messes of the battalion. In which all the officers, subordinate officers and soldiers of the battalion participated together.
