The delivery facility in JP Hospital, which is known as the model hospital of Madhya Pradesh and has an annual budget of Rs 2.5 crore, is on the verge of closure. The gynecology department opened on Monday, but the women who came were advised to go to Katju Hospital for delivery and were sent away. In the last one month, not even 10 deliveries have been made here, whereas about 100 women come here every day.
In the last few days, about 30 gynecologists, medical officers, nursing officers and DGOs have been transferred from the gynecology department. As a result, on Friday, only Dr. Abha Jaisani and P. Kumar and pediatrician Dr. Piyush Pancharatna are left in the name of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. At present P. Kumar is on leave. In such a situation, Abha Jaisani came to the hospital on Saturday.
There is resentment among the people of the city regarding the continuous transfer of doctors of Jaypee Hospital. JP employees and many organizations have written a letter to cancel the decision and this might impact diploma course run at JP hospital. Only 7 district hospitals of the state have recognition for this course. In such a situation, diploma course from JP may be closed.
After the decision of the Health Department, JP Hospital will be the first hospital in the country where delivery facilities will be negligible. There were about 20 to 25 deliveries daily in Jaypee Hospital. This number has now been reduced to 2 or 3.
Due to women getting private facilities in Katju Hospital, OPD has increased almost 20 times in just one month. 150 women are reaching here every day. Out of this, 100 women are being recruited. And 80 deliveries are being made every day. Whereas 35 women are having cesarean delivery.
Katju Hospital is also our wing. There better facilities are being provided to women. A 30 bedded hospital is being operated here also said Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, Civil Surgeon, JP Hospital
