Monday, 06 May 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

On the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan, Commissioner Gwalior Sudam Khade has suspended District Treasury Officer, Ashoknagar Jitendra Kumar Arya with immediate effect. Arya has been suspended for acting arbitrarily and carelessly in an important task like election by disobeying the orders and instructions given by the Election Commission of India, State Government and senior officials.

During the suspension period, the headquarters of the District Treasury Officer will be Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Ashoknagar and he will be eligible for subsistence allowance. The charge of District Treasury Officer has been given to District Pension Officer Ashoknagar Ravindra Suryavanshi.

It is noteworthy that Collector Ashok Nagar had given a report to Commissioner Gwalior informing him that the District Treasury Officer Ashoknagar did not follow the rules and instructions of the Election Commission and caused unnecessary delay in placing the ballot boxes of people engaged in essential services after voting by them. Besides, irrelevant dialogue was also held with the election officials. Collector Ashok Nagar had recommended Commissioner Gwalior for strict action against the District Treasury Officer.
