Thursday, 04 April 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand former minister Yogendra Sao on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate zonal office in Ranchi for interrogation in connection with extortion and money laundering. The investigating agency asked him questions about the money trail. The Enforcement Directorate had called him for questioning regarding the illegal sand mining case. By issuing summons, ED had called Yogendra Sao to the ED office on April 3. On March 12, ED had also raided the house of Amba Prasad and his close relatives. During the raid, ED also raided their various locations and recovered a total of Rs 30 lakh. Let us tell you that out of this, Rs 15 lakh was recovered from the house of Shashi Bhushan in Govindpur (Dhanbad). At the same time, Rs 11 lakh was seized from the house of Yogendra Sao's brother-in-law Mukesh Sao.

Apart from cash, ED had also recovered mobile phones and many important documents. In this case, the ED team is interrogating Yogendra Sao. Let us tell you that cases related to illegal land occupation, sand smuggling and extortion are registered against Congress MLA from Barakagaon Amba Prasad, her father Yogendra Sao.

On Tuesday itself, former minister Yogendra Sao's daughter Amba Prasad had reached the ED office with food and medicines for her father. During this, Amba Prasad had said that ED is cooperating in the investigation. Despite this, ED is unnecessarily harassing his family. ED had raided on March 12. Since then the investigation is continuing. Congress MLA Amba Prasad has termed the matter of illegal occupation of land as completely wrong. He said that we are not involved in this from anywhere. If it was a matter of land grabbing, an FIR would have been lodged in the police station, but nothing like this happened.

On March 15 ED sent summons to Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad, his father and former minister Yogendra Sao, brother Ankit Raj and former Circle Officer (CO) of Hazaribagh Shashi Bhushan Singh in connection with money laundering investigation. The central probe agency—ED has issued summons to everyone asking them to appear before the probe agency office on different dates.

The 36-year-old Amba Prasad, who represents Barkagaon in the Jharkhand assembly, has been asked to depose on April 4 while her brother Ankit Sao has been called the next day on April 5, the sources said.
The central agency wants to record their statements under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act PMLA.
