In a significant milestone, a joint team from the Blast Furnace Department of Bokaro Steel Plant and SAIL-RDCIS has achieved a major breakthrough. They have successfully conducted a trial run of charging briquettes in Blast Furnace No. 01 of BSL for the first time. This marks the debut of such an endeavor in the plant.
RDCIS and BSL have developed the briquettes successfully utilizing return sinters, slag, and other fines generated in the steelmaking process. This initiative is a crucial step towards making steelmaking processes more sustainable. Furthermore, this new technique is also a significant achievement in terms of environmental management and resource optimization in the steel production process.
Under the leadership of Birendra Kumar Tiwary, Executive Director (Works) BSL, and guidance from A.K. Mitra, CGM (Iron) RDCIS, and M.P. Singh, CGM (Blast Furnace) BSL, this project was implemented.
The successful trial saw active participation from key personnel including B.K. Behara, CGM (Sinter Plant) BSL, Dhananjay Kumar, CGM (RMHP) BSL, M. Roy, GM (BF) RDCIS, Shyamsundar, GM (BF) BSL, K.
