A massive fire broke out in 4 shops in Gautam Nagar in the wee hours on Wednesday, 5 people of the same family got trapped. Of these, two girls could be saved by rescue. The fire was completely controlled in about 3 and a half hours, but by then the goods in the shops were burnt to ashes.

Fatehgarh Fire Station firefighter Shahnawaz Ahmed said that there is a grocery, general stores, restaurant and gym on the ground floor of the building. One of these caught fire due to a short circuit. After this the fire continued to spread. A family lived on the first floor of the building, which came under fire. Three out of five members were taken out easily, but two girls were trapped in the fire.

Shopkeeper Prafulla Goyal said that there are general stores and clothes shop. Where the fire broke out at quarter to 4 o'clock. The whole thing got burnt. People nearby called on mobile and informed him, we live in Shahenshah Garden. Fire brigade came late. Before this, the neighbors together tried to control the fire.

Resident Samarth Gupta said that a sound like the bursting of firecrackers was heard at night and when checked from the balcony he spotted fire in the lower floor and started evacuating the family members. Fire brigade was informed. With this we all started controlling the fire to some level. Some people from my family were trapped upstairs. We reached the terrace and broke the lock of the terrace door and went inside. After this everyone was taken out. People were trapped in the balcony because there was a lot of smoke inside.
