Medical teams to be attached to each polling station in State: Principal Secy

In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, medical teams will be attached to all the polling booths a day before the polling day. The health workers posted in the polling station buildings have necessary medicines for the voters and the officials, personnel and security forces deployed in the election work. First aid facilities including solutions etc will be available. The medical officers of the concerned first aid center will be present at all the polling stations along with the paramedical staff in the ambulance or any other vehicle under their jurisdiction.

The facility of 108 ambulances will be strengthened a day before the voting. In case of any emergency, there will be cashless treatment facility for the election workers. All civil surgeons, with the consent of the concerned District Election Officer, should prepare a list of government, non-government and higher facility hospitals in their area and get them mapped. In case of emergency, there should be arrangements for timely referral for treatment in super specialty hospitals, so that better medical facilities are immediately available to the election workers. Air ambulance facility will also be available for special circumstances.

Ajay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Health, Medical, Education and Family Welfare Department, today met the Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand KRavi Kumar said while addressing a meeting with Health Department officials including Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora. Civil surgeons from all the districts of the state were connected to this meeting held in the auditorium at Nepal House through video conferencing.

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar directed doctors and health workers to remain in alert mode regarding the Lok Sabha elections. He said that primary health facilities are to be made available in every polling hall for the polling party, election workers, security personnel and voters who come on the day of polling for the Lok Sabha elections. For this, health workers along with medical kits will be deployed in the polling center building. Doctors and health workers will also be deployed at local government hospitals and health centres. Besides, non-government hospitals and hospitals with higher facilities outside the state are also being identified.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that with the deployment of health workers in the polling hall, the officials and personnel engaged in polling work as well as the voters coming here will be treated and necessary medicines will be provided to the needy.

He reviewed point by point other health related issues like appointment of health workers, deployment of ambulances, air ambulances, paramedical staff at polling stations in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora gave detailed information through PPT to the civil surgeons of all the districts about the guidelines related to paramedical staff and medical pests of the Election Commission of India. While giving information on topics like air ambulance, ambulance emergency facility etc, she said to remain alert. She appealed to all officials and personnel associated with health services to exercise their franchise.

She said that the Election Commission of India has provided the facility of postal ballot for the workers associated with essential services. On the day of voting, health workers on duty should exercise their franchise through postal wallets. She said that health care officials and doctors should cooperate in voter awareness. She especially appealed to the doctors to put the date of voting day and the stamp related to voting in the prescription of the patients coming to their place, so that all the voters can be alert about voting.

In the meeting, Campaign Director, National Health Mission, Alok Trivedi, Director General, Health Services, Dr. Chandra Kishore Shahi, Special Secretary, Jai Kishore Prasad, OSD of Chief Electoral Officer's Office Geeta Choubey along with Health, Medical, Education and Family Welfare Department were present. Officials were present.
