Mobile Van Passport Service launched at Bistupur Post Office

Wednesday, 17 April 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In a bid to streamline and expedite the passport issuance process, a mobile van service has been inaugurated at the Passport Seva Kendra in Jamshedpur, starting from Monday. However, due to initial lack of awareness, only six applicants availed of the service on the inaugural day.

According to the Regional Passport Office in Ranchi, with increased awareness about the availability of the mobile van service, it is anticipated that the number of bookings will rise, and the service will be able to process passports for up to 40 applicants daily. This initiative aims to alleviate the wait time for passport issuance, providing a much-needed solution for the residents of Jamshedpur.

The mobile van, functioning as a miniature passport office, has been strategically stationed at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Bistupur. Equipped with necessary facilities and personnel, the van offers a convenient alternative for passport applicants to complete the application process.

Applicants can schedule an appointment for the mobile van service through the online portal and submit their passport applications at the designated time and date. With this initiative, the capacity of the Passport Seva Kendra in Jamshedpur has been augmented from processing 100 passports to 140 passports daily, ensuring a more efficient and accessible passport issuance service for the local community.

As awareness spreads and more individuals avail of this mobile van service, it is expected to significantly contribute to reducing the backlog of passport applications and enhancing the overall efficiency of the passport issuance process in Jamshedpur.
