A 27-year-old prisoner in Bhopal Central Jail died during treatment in the hospital. Three months ago, Kolar police arrested him on the charges of theft and sent him under judicial custody.

He got bail from the High Court on Friday. He was to be released on Monday. He was suddenly admitted to Hamidia Hospital late on Sunday night.

The police informed the family about his death at 7 in the morning. Judicial investigation has started in the matter.

Ravindra Valmiki, younger brother of the deceased, told that Sonu Valmiki (27) was his elder brother. We live in S Sector Sarvadharma Damkheda. The brother used to work as sweepers in private colonies of Kolar. Apart from this, he also worked as a daily wage labourer. Three months ago, he married Lakshmi, a resident of Jaipur. Few days after the marriage, Kolar police arrested him on charges of theft. After which he was sent to jail.

On Monday at 7 he got a call from the police regarding the death of his brother. He was brought to Hamidia Hospital late at night. His health had deteriorated. We suspect that he was beaten up in jail, due to which he died.

TI Praveen Tripathi of Gandhi Nagar police station said that a case has been established in the case. The prisoner was taken from the jail to Hamidia Hospital late on Sunday night. He complained of nervousness and vomiting. Death has occurred in judicial custody, hence judicial investigation has been started.

Meanwhile Aishbagh police station has arrested a 25-year-old youth who stabbed a youth on Sunday in Aishbagh area.

A youth named Fazal Qureshi (27) had filed a report against Ashraf on Sunday.

According to police Fazal, he was on his way home when he was stopped by Mohammad Arshad who started abusing Fazal and when he continued to abuse the accused, Arshad took out a knife and attacked him.
