Registration starting for Kejriwal’s schemes is betrayal of public: BJP

Monday, 23 December 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Delhi BJP on Sunday accused the former Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal of presenting ‘a bundle of lies’ over his announcement of registration for the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ and ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’, while objecting on the registration being done by AAP workers for a government scheme.

South Delhi BJP MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri objected to how Kejriwal is announcing the schemes instead of Chief Minister Atishi. He said, “The registration starting for both the schemes from Monday is a betrayal to the public. Bidhuri said that if these are government schemes, then how can the AAP workers register them? The lack of registration officially means that the public is being deceived.”

Bidhuri said that Kejriwal is sending party workers door to door on the pretext of registration so that he can fool the public. “Under the guise of this, AAP workers will enter every house and the expenses incurred in the name of registration will be declared as government expenses,” he said, calling it a big scam.

Addressing a press conference, New Delhi BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj stated, “Arvind Kejriwal has yet again presented a bundle of lies through a press briefing. However, those lies have now become stale, and the people of Delhi will no longer fall for them.”

She alleged that Kejriwal has promised Rs 2,100 per month for women, but even before the Lok Sabha elections, he announced Rs 1,000 per month for women, filled out forms, and yet didn’t disburse even a single rupee.

“Kejriwal announced a similar scheme in Punjab in 2022, but until the end of December 2024, no woman in Punjab has received any funds in her account,” Swaraj claimed, remarking that for Arvind Kejriwal, women’s respect is just an election gimmick.

She demanded that Kejriwal respond to why his private secretary, at his residence, physically assaulted MP Swati Maliwal and why he maintained silence on this incident. She questioned why the same private secretary, guilty of such conduct, was promoted to an advisory position in the Punjab government.

“The women of Delhi are well aware of Kejriwal’s deceit and asked him to stop serving falsehoods under the guise of Mahila Samman,” she added. Bansuri Swaraj also highlighted that Kejriwal has never implemented the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a welfare scheme by the central government, in Delhi due to his political vendetta. “If he couldn’t do justice to senior citizens with this scheme, how can he claim to ensure their welfare now?” she questioned.

Further, the Lok Sabha MP said that like the promise of women’s respect, the Sanjeevani scheme is also merely an election stunt. “Even though the scheme’s entire cost is covered by the central government and it is implemented in 33 states, including Punjab where Kejriwal’s government exists, it remains unimplemented in Delhi,” she said.

Swaraj pointed out that it is suspicious why Kejriwal is suddenly concerned about senior citizens after governing for 10 years  and added that the AAP government’s budget is running a deficit of Rs 7,000 crore, making the Sanjeevani scheme a mere illusion and a strategy to create a vote bank.
