RNTU’s Humanities and Liberal Arts department hosts grand celebration

Rabindranath Tagore University's Humanities and Liberal Arts Department recently orchestrated a spectacular festival, 'Fete de Shakespeare,' honoring the indelible legacy of the legendary playwright, William Shakespeare.

The event, held at the university premises, brought together students, faculty, and esteemed guests in a jubilant commemoration of Shakespeare's enduring genius.

Dr Ruchi Mishra Tiwari, the esteemed curator of the program, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the platform it provides for students to showcase their talents and creativity.

The significance of celebrating such festivals in preserving Shakespeare's legacy was elucidated by the esteemed Pro Vice Chancellor, Sangeeta Jauhari, underscoring the ongoing relevance of Shakespeare's work in contemporary society.

In a poignant address, Prof. Rajnikant, the Vice-Chancellor of RNTU, emphasized the timeless human values embedded in Shakespeare's dramas, advocating for their continued exploration and appreciation.

This year's edition of the Shakespeare festival saw a remarkable collaboration with the Cinelit Society, an endeavor lauded by its founder members, Dr. Uzma Khan and  Rachna Bajpai, who highlighted the society's diverse activities, including competitions at both school and college levels.

The event witnessed the participation of esteemed guests, including Dr. Nidhi Tiwari, head of the Social Science Department at the Regional Institute of Education, who illuminated Shakespeare's advocacy for marginalized voices, citing the relevance of his messages in contemporary discourse.

The festival's highlight was a captivating drama performance by humanities students, a rendition of 'The Merchant of Venice,' directed by Mr. Manoj Nair of the Tagore National School of Drama, which received a resounding standing ovation from the audience.

In addition to the theatrical extravaganza, the event marked the release of the latest edition of the 'Campus Mimansa' newsletter, meticulously crafted by students of journalism under the expert guidance of Mr. Yogesh Patel, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The occasion concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shaivy, a member of the Cinelit Society, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters.

The 'Fete de Shakespeare' festival drew an enthusiastic audience comprising deans, heads of departments, faculty, and students of RNTU, underscoring the university's commitment to fostering cultural enrichment and academic excellence.
