Shopping discounts for voters to boost poll percentage

 In a novel way to boost voting percentage, Deputy Development Commissioner cum Senior Officer Sveep Cell,  Manish Kumar, unveiled a novel strategy to bolster voter turnout in urban areas. The proposal, which entails offering discounts on shopping to voters displaying their voting marks, received resounding endorsement from stakeholders across diverse business sectors gathered at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

 

Manish Kumar, spearheaded a crucial meeting with representatives from various sectors including hotels, restaurants, malls, and coaching centers. The gathering, held at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur, focused on charting out strategies to enhance voter awareness and engagement ahead of the upcoming voting day in the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency on May 25.

 

Chairing the meeting,  Manish Kumar underscored the significance of collective efforts in dispelling apathy towards voting among urban voters. He emphasized the pivotal role of business establishments in amplifying voter awareness programs at their respective levels. Among the directives issued, hotel and restaurant operators were tasked with disseminating information about Voting Day by incorporating voter awareness stickers in food parcels and sweet boxes, alongside setting up selfie points, posters, and banners in prominent locations such as malls, offices, hotels, and restaurants.

 

Moreover, coaching center operators were urged to actively encourage young voters aged 18 and above to register themselves in the voter list by submitting Form 6 before the stipulated deadline of April 15. The meeting also witnessed an appeal to ensure personal verification in the voter list to facilitate a seamless voting experience on the designated day.

 

In a noteworthy move to incentivize voting in urban areas, the Deputy Development Commissioner proposed offering discounts on shopping to individuals showcasing their voting marks. This initiative garnered unanimous support from representatives of various business institutions present at the meeting, who pledged their commitment to collaborate effectively in the voter awareness campaign.

 

During the proceedings, attendees were urged to take the Voter's Oath and encourage others to accompany them to the polling booths, with a target of bringing at least 10 additional individuals. The meeting saw active participation from over 50 representatives, including JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner and District Sports Officer, highlighting the widespread support garnered for the initiative.

 

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Development Commissioner reiterated the importance of collective action in fostering a culture of robust civic engagement, stressing that the success of democracy hinges on the active participation of every citizen.
