With little more rainfall in the state capital the 30 year old record of rainfall in the month of April will be broken. In the year 1994, 40.7 mm i.e. 1.6 inches of rain had fallen in the month of April, whereas this time 34.4 mm i.e. 1.3 inches of water had fallen. The weather department has predicted rain in the city for the next 4 days. In such a situation, there is a possibility of the record being broken.

Bhopal recorded 29.8 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. On April 9 also, 4.6 mm of water had fallen. Accordingly, 34.4 mm of water has fallen so far in April. If 6.3 mm more rainfall occurs, the all-time record of rainfall in the month of April will also be broken. Here, the night has also become cold due to rain. On the night of Wednesday-Thursday the temperature dropped by 3 degrees and the mercury reached 19 degrees.

The record of maximum rainfall in 24 hours could not be broken

According to the Meteorological Department, 10 years ago on April 20, 2013, there was 30.8 mm of rain i.e. 1.25 inches in 24 hours. This is the record of highest rainfall within 24 hours in the month of April. After this, there was never this much rainfall in April between 2014 and 2023. This time on April 10, there was 29.8 mm rainfall in 24 hours. This record could not be broken due to 1 mm less rainfall.

Due to storms and rain, there was no water supply in about 30 percent of Bhopal on Wednesday. These include Shivaji Nagar, E-6 Arera Colony, Janta Colony, Bharat Nagar, Suraj Nagar, Barkhedi, New MLA Quarters, Jawahar Chowk, 228 Quarters, TT Nagar, Ayodhya Bypass, Shivnagar Phase-3, Atal Nehru Nagar, Geeta Nagar, Leeladhar. Many areas including Colony, Aman Colony, Rajiv Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Ekta Bilal Colony, Danish Colony, Awas Vikas, Shaheed Nagar, Shanti Prakash Nagar, Kamal Nagar were included. Water supply system was affected in these areas on Thursday morning also. In many areas water did not come on time. Due to this people kept getting worried.

The electricity supply in Narmada Water Supply, Kolar Water Supply Project, Bairagarh and Manuabhan Filter Plant stopped from 4 pm on Wednesday. Due to this the water supply system was disrupted. Due to the tanks not being filled, the timing of the supply got disturbed on Thursday.

There was a storm in Bhopal on Wednesday at a speed of 37 kilometers per hour. Due to this the electricity supply system also got affected. There was a power cut in Arera Hills from 4.30 pm onwards, which continued till late night.

Electricity remained shut for hours in more than 100 areas including Tulsi Nagar, Bagmugalia, Katara, Bagsevania, Misrod, Bawadiya Kalan, Kolar Road, Ayodhya Bypass, Avadhpuri, Raisen Road, Karond, Berasia Road. The teams remained engaged in repair work throughout the night. The power supply system was restored on Thursday morning.
