Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday said that constructive coordination between religious, spiritual knowledge and digital dominance is the need of the hour to ensure religious tolerance, social harmony and world brotherhood.
Addressing a programme organised by World Brotherhood Organisation, Naqvi said that coordination between “digital tower” and “divine power” is a must in current scenario when various digital platforms are engaged in an irrational crazy competition to spread propaganda, prejudiced and incomplete information against religious, cultural, social values and principles; social and religious tolerance and harmony is being torn apart, the strength of debate has become hostage to the dominance of mischief.
Naqvi said that today more than six billion people, i.e. more than 70 per cent of the world’s population, are connected to social and digital networking sites and this number is increasing by leaps and bounds.
Naqvi said that in the last two decades, the digital world has become “Gyan Granth” (knowledge book) of most of household and in some places, a “Dharma Granth” (religious book), where there is a commercial competition to spread misinformation instead of information and to create fallacy instead of truth. We should remember that “lack of caution leads to accident”.
Naqvi said that the great saints and personalities of India like Ramakrishna Paramhans, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi paved the way for world welfare and brotherhood. The negative competition of today’s social media platforms is becoming a major cause of social disintegration and conflict.
The digital world is becoming a means of misuse instead of beneficial and productive use
Naqvi said that 10,522 mantras of the most ancient “Rigveda”; 1,10,000 shlokas of the Mahabharata; 24,000 shlokas of the Ramayana; 1,189 chapters and 31,102 verses of the Bible; 30 paras and 6666 surahs of the Quran are full of message of encouraging goodness and discouraging evil.
