Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that as many as 84 students have been selected for the ‘Viksit Delhi Chief Minister Internship Programme’, which is starting from Monday and they will work with the Government during the next three months.
As many as 9,000 students had applied (for the internship programme) and 87 students were selected. The CM said that for the first time in Delhi’s governance history, the Government has provided young people with a direct platform to engage in administration and policy making. According to the Chief Minister, this initiative will allow youth to play a meaningful role in shaping the Capital’s future.
During a special event at the Delhi Secretariat, internship offer letters were distributed to talented students from colleges across the city. These interns will work for three months on various projects alongside different departments and senior officials of the Delhi Government. The internship is designed to familiarise youth with the challenges of governance and provide a platform to develop solution-oriented thinking.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that fresh ideas, innovative technology, and new vision brought by our youth will serve as inspiration and a catalyst for change in governance.
The Chief Minister emphasised that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders, and their thinking can inject new energy into the Government system.
She added that this internship is not merely a programme, but a co-creation of Delhi’s future. The partnership will allow the Government not only to teach but also to learn from young people. She stressed that the initiative will advance Delhi towards paperless governance, data-driven administration, smart policymaking, and digital innovation.
Out of nearly 9,000 applicants, 84 exceptional candidates were selected through a rigorous and transparent process. It involves online tests, essay writing, document verification, and participation in boot camps with workshops and interactive sessions. Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of `20,000 for three months.
