The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates conducted a door-to-door campaign, visiting paying guest (PG) accommodations and hostels to connect with students and present their agenda.
The move is aimed at bridging the gap between campus politics and the large student demographic living outside the university’s official hostels.
On Sunday, ABVP’s central panel candidates—presidential candidate Aryan Mann, along with Govind Tanwar (Vice President), Kunal Chaudhary (Secretary), and Deepika Jha (Joint Secretary)—initiated a door-to-door campaign. They visited hundreds of PGs and hostels across both North and South campuses, including key student hubs like Mukherjee Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Satya Niketan, and Naraina Vihar. Volunteers distributed the party’s manifesto and appealed for votes directly to the students.
According to the party, this strategic outreach is a way of “personally sharing” their manifesto and fostering a sense of belonging among students who often feel disconnected from campus politics. The ABVP statement highlighted “overwhelming support and affection” from the students they interacted with.
Sarthak Sharma, ABVP Delhi State Secretary, expressed confidence in the new strategy. “We are fully confident that on 18 September, DU students will place their trust and valuable votes in ABVP, ensuring our victory on all four seats,” he said.
The DUSU elections are scheduled for September 18. This focused, off-campus approach underscores the party’s recognition of the diverse student body and its effort to directly address the concerns of students living away from home.
