Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday participated in two major cultural and spiritual events in the capital, addressing the gatherings and appreciating their contributions.

In the morning, the Chief Minister joined the Onam Ponnonam 2025 celebrations organised at the JLN Auditorium, AIIMS Campus, and experienced the vibrant expressions of Malayali culture, traditions and brotherhood.

She recalled that this year’s Onam festivities began at the Chief Minister Seva Sadan, celebrated joyfully with Malayali families of Delhi. She added that the cultural pageants, floral decorations, and Kerala’s traditional cuisine made it feel as though she was standing on the sacred land of Kerala itself.

Praising the Malayali community, the Chief Minister said that Kerala is known for its rich culture and spirit of service.

In particular, the community’s contribution to nursing and healthcare is commendable and respected not only in India but across the world. She assured that the Delhi Government values every culture and community and is committed, with their cooperation, to making the capital more prosperous, harmonious and progressive. On this occasion, former Union Minister Mr V. Muraleedharan and many other dignitaries were present. Later in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 171st Shri Narayan Guru Jayanti celebrations at Kerala School, Vikas Puri, and paid her humble tribute to the great saint.

She said that the life of Shri Narayan Guru inspires society to break the shackles of casteism and hierarchy, and to move forward on the path of humanity, harmony and equality.

The Chief Minister further said that people of Kerala origin have made a special contribution to the development and progress of Delhi. With their hard work, values and social cooperation, the Kerala community has enriched Delhi with a new identity and fresh energy. She emphasised that following the path shown by Shri Narayan Guru Ji, the Delhi Government is fully dedicated to the service and development of every section and every culture.

The chief minister also said that the true strength of Delhi lies in its diversity, and within this diversity rests the power of unity. She affirmed that the government is committed to strengthening this unity and building a developed and inclusive Delhi.
