From voice to video: how Indian startup Koyal is taking flight

From voice to video: how Indian startup Koyal is taking flight there was a time when stories and songs were shared only through word of mouth— someone sang, others listened, and the tale moved forward.

Then came radio, television, and cinema. Storytelling became more spectacular, but also more complicated and expensive. Today, creating even a short video can take editors and creators not just hours, but sometimes weeks.

This very challenge inspired the birth of Koyal. A sibling duo’s dream Delhi-based siblings Gauri and Mehul founded Koyal AI. The name comes from the beloved bird “Koyal,” famous for winning hearts with its melodious voice. This time too, Koyal works its magic through voice— but with a new twist: instantly turning voice into video. Record a song, create a podcast, or simply speak a short voice note—and within minutes, Koyal transforms it into a complete video, with characters, movements, lip-syncing, and animation all ready.

What once took weeks of video editing, Koyal now accomplishes in minutes. Why Koyal? Because creators across the world— independent musicians, teachers, youtubers, podcasters, and business owners— were struggling with the same set of problems: video production is expensive. It consumes too much time. Great ideas often get stuck without execution. Gauri and Mehul asked themselves: if you already have a voice, why should the story remain incomplete? Why not let it take flight?

Two years of effort, many challenges after two years of continuous research and experimentation, the team solved some of the toughest problems: creating characters that look natural.   Enabling multiple people to converse in the same scene. Ensuring moving characters perfectly match the lip-sync.

Today, Koyal can generate anything— from short social media clips to full-length web series.  Why Is It Unique for India? While AI video tools exist globally, there hasn’t been a platform in India at this scale— especially one dedicated to audio-to-video storytelling. Koyal’s biggest strengths are: speed— transforms voice to video in minutes.

Quality— outputs professional— grade videos.  Affordability— accessible to every creator. Currently, Koyal is collaborating with music labels, podcast creators, and OTT platforms. From songs to video series and even edtech content, it is building a bridge between voice and visuals.

For anyone with a voice, Koyal offers the power to turn it into a video— a faster, simpler, and more accessible way to tell stories.
