Congress leader and the leader of the opposition in Chhattisgarh, Charandas Mahant, has called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "defaulter".
“All the Modi promises in the form of guarantees, whether it may be of 2 crore jobs or of depositing Rs 15 lakh in people's bank accounts, have failed and the people of Chhattisgarh very well know that Modi is a defaulter,” Mahant said.
He was replying to a query of media persons here about Modi’s attack on him for “beating with a stick” remark.
“I don’t want to comment on what Modi said about me as well as the Congress as we people of Chhattisgarh know that he was a defaulter who had not kept his promises," Mahant said.
“His guarantees were not delivered and hence he, according to the people of Chhattisgarh, is a defaulter”, Mahant told reporters. “He is not worth talking about."
Meanwhile, Congress communication wing chief Sushil Anand Shukla said what Mahant meant was that one fails to keep his promises should be called a ‘defaulter’.
“The BJP is misguiding people to distract attention from the failures of Modi,” he said.
