Thunderstorm warning issued for eight districts

Even as various places in the mountains witnessed very light rain on Thursday, the weather is set to take a turn in eight districts today. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Tehri and Almora districts on Friday.  Apart from this, very light to light rain/snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Tehri and Almora districts. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 4,000 metres and above in the above mentioned districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky with thundercloud development likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday were 34.8 degrees Celsius and 18.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36 degrees Celsius and 16.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 20.4 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24 degrees Celsius and 11.9 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was two millimetres rain in Ghangariya, one millimetre in Badrinath and 0.5 millimetre each in Joshimath and Sama.
