Bijay Mohanty gets Jayadev Award

Himanshu Khatua-directed Krantidhara was adjudged as the best film for the 26th State Film Awards for the year 2014. Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Thursday announced the list of the winners of the prestigious State Film Awards here.

While Ollywood actor Bijay Mohanty would receive the Jayadev Award for lifetime achievement which is a special award conferred on a film personality for outstanding contribution to the Odia film industry. Sabyasachi Mohapatra and Atal Bihari Panda would receive the best director and best actor awards, respectively, for the movie Aadim Vichar.

Notably, Mohapatra and Panda had won the State Film Award in the best director and best actor category last year too for the movie Sala Budha.

The best actress award this time would be given to Gargi Mohanty for her performance in the movie Krantidhara. Samanta would receive the award as the best storywriter for Krantidhara.

The State Film Award was established in 1968 which is decided by independent jury members selected by the Culture Department. The award is presented in 25 different categories.
