MANIT student commits suicide

A third year girl student of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her college hostel number 7 on Wednesday; suicide note recovered pointed out that home sickness was the reason behind the suicide.

According to the police, the deceased Malla Venkatesh Sai Pallavi was found hanging at her room in hostel and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

As soon as the roommate of the deceased spotted her hanging the warden of the hostel was informed.

The police were informed and on the receipt of the information a police team reached the spot and started investigation.

In the initial investigation the police found that the reason behind the suicide was home sickness and which would be investigated.

The deceased’s friends told the police they the deceased wanted to meet her parents as she missed them and she used to frequently share this with her friends.

The deceased was a student of Mechanical branch.

On Wednesday the deceased stayed back at the hostels claiming that she was not well and later she was found hanging at the hostel room.

Deceased was found hanging by her roommates in the afternoon after they returned from class, who immediately informed the warden.

She used to live at Kalpana Chawla hostel number 7.

The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.

Deceased hailed from Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.A suicide note, which is written in Tamil was recovered by the police.
