Telugu film critic held for hurting religious sentiment

Hyderabad city police has arrested Telugu film critic Kathi Mahesh on the charges of hurting the religious sentiments by making inappropriate comments against Hindu religious figures Ram and Sita.

The arrest was made after the right wing groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal held a protest demonstration outside the studios of a TV channel. Mahesh had allegedly made the remarks during a panel discussion of the TV last week.

Banjara Hills police station inspector K Srinivas said that the film critic was arrested on a complaint against him. Kathi Mahesh was earlier in the news for his controversial remarks against film star turned politician Pawan Kalyan and his Jana Sena party.

During the questioning by the police he denied hurting anybody’s religious feelings and said that his remarks were based on authentic books.

later he was released by the police on personal sureity.
