‘Khel Mahakumbh’ to be held from Oct 23

Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that a state level ‘Khel Mahakumbh’  would be organised from October 23 to October 25 in which about 7500 sportspersons from the state would participate in 15 international-sports competitions.

Vij said that all these 15 international-sports competitions would be organised in the districts of Ambala, Panchkula, Karnal, Rohtak, Gurugram, Bhiwani and Hisar.

About 3800 men and 3700 women sportspersons would take part in these competitions. Before this Mahakumbh, district level competitions would be organised in the districts and the winners of these district level competitions would then participate in this state level event, the Minister said.

Vij also said that this khel Mahakumbh would play an important role in encouraging and refining the talent from villages. The events would include competitions of Gymnastics and Badminton in district Ambala, Athletics and Table Tennis in Panchkula, Volley Ball and Judo in district Karnal, Hockey and Wrestling in Rohtak, Boxing and Kabbadi in Bhiwani, Handball, Archery and Tennis in district Gurugram, Football and Basketball in Hisar, he said.

The Minister further said that various sports instructors, officers and employees have been deputed at all the competition venues of the state so as to conduct the games successfully. For this, the officials have been directed to reach their venues by October 22, the Minister added.
