2 printing press owners held in paper leak case

Sunday, 14 October 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

The Special Task Force on Saturday arrested a publisher and one another person in connection with the BTC paper leakage case.

The cops are interrogating them to find out how and who leaked the papers.

The STF team found several loopholes in the entire examination system through which any paper could be leaked without making much effort. The STF will send its findings to the state government so that these loopholes are plugged.

According to IG (STF) Amitabh Yash, the examination of the fourth semester of BTC Training-2015 was to be held on October 8 last but just a day before it, the first paper was leaked through social media.

He claimed that before the authorities could find out the miscreants behind the paper leak, other papers were also leaked and the government got a case registered with Kaushambi police and handed over the probe to the STF.

Subsequently, the STF teams reached Allahabad and Kaushambi and during investigation, found that the contract for printing the question papers was being given for the last several years to Deepti Enterprises at Balrampur House in Allahabad.

The owner of Deepti Enterprises, Asheesh Agarwal, who run the establishment in his wife’s name, was summoned and during interrogation, he disclosed that after getting the contract, he had hand over the responsibility of printing to Bhargawa Press owned by Arvind Bhargawa. Bhargawa Press has been running from Bai Ka Bagh and Mohitsin Ganj areas of Allahabad.

When the STF team inspected the press premises, it found that no security measures had been adopted to maintain secrecy of the paper and to check employees from leaking them.

The STF found that all employees of the press were carrying smartphones having camera and their computers were connected with internet, and they all had PAN drive, cards etc., through which they could easily pass on the question papers to anyone without even going to any place.

Yash said it was also found that while packing the question papers, no seal was affixed on the packets as a result of which the question papers could easily be taken out of the packet, photographed, and put back in the packet without anyone knowing about it, any time while delivering the papers to examination centres or before distribution to the examinees.

The IG (STF) said that after gathering these facts, the STF team arrested Deepti Enterprises owner Asheesh Agarwal and Bhargawa press owner Arvind Bhargawa on Saturday and handed them over to Kaushambi police. He said further investigations were on to nab the remaining culprits in the BTC paper leak case.
