Blaming it on the failure of the Congress-led Punjab Government and the intelligence agencies, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday demanded government jobs and Rs one crore each to the families who lost their member in Adliwal grenade attack a day before.
Condemning the “cowardly attack” on a sect dera, AAM showed solidarity with the victim families. “The law and order situation in state has gone from bad to worse due to the failure of the State Government and intelligence agencies. The agencies need to be alert in such situation,” said AAP MLA Aman Arora and MLA Meet Hayer.
Arora said that the government had announced a high alert suspecting militant activity few days back and even the Army Chief had deduced such incident publically. “Despite getting all the information regarding it, the anti-social elements still succeeded to kill innocent people,” he said while terming the incident as complete failure of state and central governments.
He said that the political parties must abstain from politicizing such sensitive issues just for votes.
Responding on AAP leader and senior advocate HS Phoolka on the issue, Arora said that Phoolka himself has cleared the air about what he said earlier and taken back his statement. “Still, the party clarifies that as the investigations are going on, the politicians from all parties must abstain from giving statements in this regard,” he said while appealing to the people of Punjab to maintain peace and prosperity in the state.
Reacting on the move of Congress leader Raj Kumar Verka to register a case of sedition against Phoolka, Arora said that it was unfortunate that Congress leader is politicizing the issue for getting political mileage. “He is doing all this to hide the failures of Congress Government in the state. Verka must ask his government to protect the people of Punjab,” he said.
Squarely blaming Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for Amritsar hand grenade attack, SAD president Sukhbir Badalon Monday said that the tragic incident was a direct fall out of the Chief Minister’s policy to support radicals and even use them to marginalize the mainstream moderate Akalis.
“This was done in the 1980s and 1990s also...Now again, Punjab is being pushed into bloodshed”, he said adding that the Chief Minister’s hands were “stained with the blood of innocent people”.
Sukhbir alleged that even Justice Ranjit Singh Commission was used to divert attention from the abject failures of the Congress Government.
“Now after the barbarity in Amritsar, the people and even Congress leaders are questioning the patronage extended by Capt Amarinder to radicals. Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu is now blaming Daduwal for yesterday’s tragedy and even talking about the crores collected by him. Why was Bittu silent when we gave proof of the dinner meeting invitation extended to Daduwal by Amarinder and even details of the Rs 18 crore collected by him?” said Sukhbir.
