Agreement on the execution work of solar rooftop programme in various 160 police institutes of the State with Ajure Power Private Limited, New Delhi, was signed at the state police headquarters on Monday.

On the occasion ADG Pawan Jain, PS Department of New and Renewable Energy Manu Shrivastava and senior officials from the company were present. In Madhya Pradesh in the Solar Rooftop program, many innovations have been undertaken based on policy, contract and process by Renewable Energy Services / Suppliers Company (RESCO) and under this proposals for establishment of a 35 MW capacity plant in the state were invited and in which solar plants of 3.64 MW capacity for 160 institutions of the Police Department are being added.

The beneficiary customer in the RESCO model does not require any investment and is provided power at lower cost from the existing rate of power. The beneficiary customer pays for the power which is produced by the selected developer through established Solar power plant.

The developer takes responsibility for the design, supply and establishment and maintenance for 25 years. The developer is selected by a transparent bid process and developers with the lowest tariff rates are selected. Under the RESCO model different police institutions would be provided power at Rs 2.45 per unit for the first year which is around one third of the current power Rs 7.40 per unit. The rate would increase by 3 percent per year and by the end of project life which is 25 years  the cost per unit will reach Rs 5 which would be less than half of the rate provided by power distribution companies.
