Ajay Singh accuses BJP top brass of lying

Wednesday, 26 September 2018 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Ajay Singh alleged that the people of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday witnessed three lying machines on one stage in Bhopal.

The three leaders - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh - were exposed when merely one lakh of BJP workers gathered at the venue of BJP convention against the claims that 10 lakh workers would assemble there.

Singh claimed that the Prime Minister told lies in the public function stating that the BJP-ruled States did not get funds for development when UPA was in power at Centre. On the contrary, on the basis of the 14th Finance Commission recommendations, the share of the States in the Central taxes was increased from 32 per cent to 42 per cent.

As far as the funds allocation to Madhya Pradesh is concerned, Singh stated that the then UPA government at Centre was totally unbiased in dealing with the States. In the year 2008-09, the size of Madhya Pradesh plan was of Rs 14,182 crore, but the then UPA government in 2009-10 increased to Rs 27,328 crore. In the next year, it further increased to Rs 41,190 crore.

Singh further said that in the JNNURM, which has now been renamed as Amrat Yojana, the then UPA government had given Madhya Pradesh Rs 1,06,974 crore.

On the contrary, the present government in this scheme sanctioned only Rs 2,593 crore. Commenting on the claims of Narendra Modi that his government has introduced 106 schemes, Singh said that he (Prime Minister) should speak out truth as how many of the old schemes of UPA government are included in them by renaming them.
