Arms dealer held for trying to deliver 23 pistols to criminals

The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested an arms dealer who was caught trying to deliver a large consignment of sophisticated pistols to criminals in Delhi. The accused,  Kalu Sahu (31), was arrested from Jawaharlal Nehru stadium flyover, police said on Monday.

“Information was being received that several gangs are involved in supply of illegal fire arms to the criminals of Delhi and neighbouring cities. In order to cut the supply of illegal arms and ammunitions in Delhi, a drive was conducted and Special Cell busted several interstate arms syndicates. The weapons are primarily being procured from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Western Uttar Pradesh,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah stated.

“During their interrogation, one Kalu Sahu was found to be involved in illegal fire arms trafficking and supplying arms to the criminals of Delhi and its neighbouring cities,” DCP revealed. 

“A team of Special Cell, led by Inspector Sanjay Gupta and Inspector Rajesh Kumar under the close supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Govind Sharma were arrested the arms peddler after information was received that the accused Kalu Sahu would be coming to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium flyover to deliver a large consignment of illegal pistols to criminals on September 13,” DCP stated in the official release.

The accused was arrested at 7:30 pm and 23 sophisticated pistols were recovered from his possession. A case under appropriate sections of the arms act was registered at Special Cell. Efforts are afoot to identify forward and backward linkages of this arms network, DCP revealed.
