Sunday, 25 November 2018 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Ahead of 18 more working days, the Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Saturday.

As per the OLA Secretariat’s earlier notification, the session was scheduled to continue for 23 working days till December 15. The session met for five days only.

Two Adjournment Motions were discussed during two days. Besides, an important resolution seeking a 33-per cent reservation to women in State Assembly and the Parliament was passed unanimously.

In afternoon on Saturday, BJD member Maheswar Sahoo in a point of order suggested to end the session on the ground that there were no more official businesses. Another BJD MLA Aswini Patra seconded the proposal. Accepting the proposal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh requested the Government Chief Whip to bring a motion to this effect.

After a valedictory speech delivered by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat adjourned the House sine die at 5.55 pm.

During the CM’s valedictory speech, BJP Members staged a walkout in protest.
