Badals’ ‘lifafa culture’ dishonoured SGPC: AAP

Wednesday, 14 November 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

Aam Aadmi Party, accusing the Badal family of promoting ‘lifafa culture’ and dishonouring the glorious institutions of Sikhism and Punjab, on Tuesday demanded that the Badals must apologise to the Punjabis and the Sikh community for their “misdeeds”.

“Although AAP is secular party and respect all religions, but condemns the way of the Badal family to grab control of the SGPC,” said party’s chief spokesperson and MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur while commenting on the election process of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee’s president, held on Tuesday.

She minced no words to say that the Badal family has defeated the purpose of SGPC to look after Gurdwaras and promote Sikhism.“The party and the family, that is facing the heat of the Sikhs for desecration and other Sikh issues, appointing SGPC president in an authoritarian way is commendable. The Badal family must abstain from further dishonouring the religion. It would have better if Sukhbir Badal is away from the selection process of the SGPC president and let the members decide on their own,” said Prof Baljinder.
