City residents to get respite, clear sky in sight

Wednesday, 19 December 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

The MET observatory Centre Ranchi in the weather bulletin released on Tuesday quoted that the city residents will get respite from chilliness from December 19 as the impact of cyclone ‘Phethai’ will gradually weaken. The continuous low to moderate rainfall from December 16 onwards has severely affected the mercury level bringing the temperature level down up to 5.0 degree Celsius.

The December rain, normally considered advantageous for Rabi crops has been registered in a sufficient amount across the State. As per the records of Ranchi MET Observatory Centre, the State Capital in two days registered around 60 mm rainfall, slightly below the heavy rainfall category. In accordance to the meteorological parameters, 65 mm rainfall is kept in heavy rainfall category.

Besides, the Capital City, regions like West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum including Jamshedpur have witnessed an ample rainfall in two days. “Heavy rainfall from 70 mm – 80 mm rainfall is recorded in these two days in the southern parts while the central Jharkhand has recorded nearly heavy rainfall. The northern parts of the States have registered low to moderate rainfall,” said Senior Scientist, MET Observatory Centre – Ranchi, RS Sharma.

Sharma further pointed out that for next one week the weather conditions will be remain slightly stable, with no rainfall in the sight. “There is no system formulation for the time being that can bring rainfall here. The maximum temperature in two days has fallen to 7 to 8 degree Celsius due to the impact of cyclone ‘Phethai’. During night, the minimum temperature will dip from 3 – 4 degree Celsius.

Affect of westerly wind i.e… dry cold wind will increase the temperature in the day to come,” added Sharma.
