Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone of a string of development projects worth over Rs 19 crore involving public works department( PWD), rural works department (RWD) and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) at the collectorate premises at Gopeshwar on Saturday.
The projects include building of computer room, library and arts and crafts hall at Government Middle School, Kandwal and Government Middle School, Nilani aside from reconstruction of nine kilometre stretch of Banjbagad-Talna road into a full- fledged motor road, reconstruction of Dhurma-Kundi motor road and construction of Nijmula-Pana motor road. Other projects whose foundation stone was laid on the day include several iron bridges on some important roads.
The CM also reached the venue of the ‘Janta Milan’ programme being held at the collectorate premises and heard out the grievances of the people who gathered. It is learnt that 157 problems mainly related to road, education, drinking water, power, health and compensation for disaster, economic help, housing and PRD payments were heard out by the CM.
He urged the officers, including the district magistrate, to resolve the problems raised by the people on the day at the earliest. He also asked them to fix a time for listening to the people’s woes.
The CM also released “Career Margdarshika”, a booklet prepared by the district administration meant to guide the students and distributed it among the students.
He on the occasion launched the browser of the “Himalayan Conclave” slated in Chamoli district on October 26 and 27. Besides, gas connections for several primary schools were also given under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana by the CM.
As part of the wall painting awareness drive launched by the district administration on the theme of cleanliness, CM Rawat signed the wall painting at the collectorate gate and planted a sapling.
He also visited the stalls put up by rural development department at the collectorate premises. Several self-help groups besides several departments put up stalls to make the people aware of the schemes rolled out for their welfare both by the Centre and the State Government.
