The working group of All India Congress Committee on Tuesday held a meeting to ascertain views of different sections of society to make the manifesto as “Your Voice”.

The issues discussed were food security and nutrition, health-care and issues concerning SCs and other backward classes at the double session held at Panchkula near here.

The meeting was presided over by Rajeev Gowda, MP Rajya Sabha and convener of the Election Manifesto Committee of Congress.

It was also attended by Amul Deshmukh, Coordinator of Manifesto Committee, Nitin Raut, chairman SC Department of AICC, representative from Punjab and Doctors, Social Workers, Opinion Makers and representatives of different sections included third gender.

Ashok Tanwar, Haryana Congress chief was also present at the meeting.

“The meeting had two sessions. In the first session, the issues regarding food security  and nutrition, health-care were discussed. The second session was devoted to the issues of SCs and other Backward classes,” said Tanwar.

After  the meeting, Rajeev Gowda said that the Congress President Rahul Gandhi constituted a committee under the chairmanship of P. Chidambaram to tour India and reflect the voices and needs of the people in the manifesto and make it “Your Voice”.

The working groups have been visiting different states and today’s meeting was a part of this programme. The report of these working groups is expected to be formulated by mid of January and submitted to the CWC, he said.

Amul Deshmukh said that 20-30 themes have been formulated to ascertain the views of the people of different sections. He said after the double session meeting of today in Panchkula, a third meeting will also be held in Panchkula on the subject of sports because Haryana has special place in sports.

Ashok Tanwar said that very valuable suggestions have been received which will help in making the Congress manifesto as “Your Voice”.

He said that Haryana has main issues regarding water, health-care, environment etc.  The ruling BJP Government has ignored the interests of SCs and other backward classes. These sections of society have suffered badly at the hands of BJP Government regarding employment, social security, development and education etc, he alleged.

Tanwar expressed full confidence that these issues will be taken proper care  in the Congress manifesto because the party has always stood for the welfare and development of weaker sections.

In the first session, the suggestions were received regarding problems of water, environment, pollution, health-care and health facilities.

The experts speaking on the issues raised the question of chronic diseases, child mortality and drug abuse.  It was also suggested that youth may be involved in these programmes.

In the second session the issues concerning S.C. and other backward classes were raised. These included issues of education, employment and self-entrepreneurs. A suggestion also came for migratory labour and landless agriculturists. Tanwar added.
