Cong to stage dharna over demonetisation

Friday, 09 November 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

Congress party would organize protests across the State on Friday against what it termed as a big scam of NDA government in the name of demonetization.Leader of congress legislature party Alamgir Alam on Thursday stated that the protest would be organized in front of RBI office in Ranchi and the district headquarters in other parts of the state.

Alam claimed the demonetization of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes on November 8 2016 would be remembered as a black chapter of the post independence period. He said, “Why is BJP silent on the issue even as the second anniversary of the note ban has come. The BJP and PM may try to forget it but the people will not”.

He opined that a large number of small saving of the housewives was obliterated due to the decision. The decision also hit the small and tiny industries leading to large-scale unemployment, he said.

The CLP leader alleged that the decision was taken by PM to provide an opportunity to a few of his allies to covert black money into legal currency. He said that government claimed that the step would help check black money but over 99 percent of the money kept in form Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were deposited in the bank.  The government spent Rs 7965 crores of the people’s money in printing new notes.

Alam also demanded answers from PM on real beneficiaries of the note ban decision, rising NPA of the banks, increasing fuel prices, inflation and the fall in rupee value in the international market.

State spokesman of the party including Alok Kumar Dubey and Rajiv Ranjan Prasad were present in the media briefing.
