Cong vision document lacks vision: BJP

Tuesday, 13 November 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

Reacting to the vision document released by the Congress for the urban local body elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party opined that the so called vision document lacks vision. A major part of the document comprises criticism of the Union Government while the remaining portion is akin to a memorandum addressed to the BJP State government. This vision document has also made it clear that the Congress has fully abandoned Narayan Dutt Tiwari- the chief minister of the first elected Congress government of Uttarakhand as photographs of national and state level leaders have been displayed on the document but Tiwari’s picture has been omitted.

The BJP State media in charge Devendra Bhasin said that while drafting this document, the minds of the Congress leaders were focused more on the coming Lok Sabha elections than on the urban local body elections. This is why more focus was laid on criticising the Union Government. The manner in which urban local body elections have been referred to is nothing more than a memorandum to the state government mentioning various expectations from the state. This has exposed the dire condition of the Congress which appears to have already accepted its defeat in these elections. Bhasin said that though the Congress has stated its expectations from the state government, it should state what was done for the local bodies in Uttarakhand during the term of the Congress government. In fact, the Congress had treated BJP majority boards with a negative bias at the time. The BJP is about to achieve a resounding victory in the local body polls after which the ‘triple-engine’ government will set new milestones in development, added Bhasin.
