CZC meet resolves 20 inter-state issues

The Central Zone Council meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Monday, resolved 20 out of the 22 inter-state issues pending before it.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his Uttarakhand counterpart Trivendra Singh Rawat and senior ministers from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the meeting which resolved almost all issues barring some relating to storage of food grains and forest clearance for power projects.

Addressing media persons later, Rajnath Singh said that co-operative federalism had emerged through this zonal council meeting and it solved several inter-state issues. 

“During the present BJP regime at the Centre, five zonal state councils have been set up and their standing committees have resolved 428 issues out of 680,” he claimed.

In the two-hour-long meeting, members reviewed progress of the implementation of recommendations made in the last meeting related to need to increase density of roads and upgradation of existing roads, assistance required to combat left wing extremism, modernisation of police forces, leveraging MNREGA for creating community assets in Bastar (Chhattisgarh), improvement of airport infrastructure, issues related to storage of food grains, forest clearance and discrepancies in Bhagirathi Eco sensitive zone notification.

The council also took up issues related to unconditional acceptance of procured coarse gain under Price Support Scheme (PSS) in Central pool, upgradation of porta cabins into secondary schools with hostel facilities, commencement of air taxi service in Chhattisgarh, special package for the new capital of Chhattisgarh, revision of National Health Mission (NHM) guidelines to increase flexibility for undertaking state-specific need based initiatives, allowing import clearance of un-shredded scrap at inland container depot in Raipur, better connectivity and inclusion of new offices for CCTNS, issues related to school education in UP and allocation of funds for relocation of villages outside protected area.

 The other issues raised are insulation of power lines in forest areas, payment of outstanding amount by UPPCL, Bundelkhand package, special assistance from central plan scheme, release of funds by Centre to states and issues relating to national policy on disaster management 2005.
