Decision on seat sharing for Lok Sabha in Jan: Ajoy Kumar

Friday, 21 December 2018 | Parvinder Bhatia | Jamshedpur

State Congress president Ajoy Kumar on Thursday said that decision on seat sharing of the ‘mahagathbandhan’ (alliance of opposition parties in Jharkhand) for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls would be decided at a meeting in Delhi in January.

When questioned over JMM executive president, Hemant Soren’s statement yesterday at Giridih on JMM leader heading the mahagathbandhan in the state, Kumar, who is also national Congress spokesperson, said, “Let me clear that Congress believes in consensus. We have proved that during election of chief minister in the state of Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and the decision on seat sharing would be decided at a meeting of all mahagathbandhan in Delhi sometime in January.”

Ajoy Kumar who was addressing media at the party’s East Singhbhum district office in Bistupur today evening, further said, “As per the plans the meeting in Delhi would have leaders of all opposition parties including those from JMM, JVM, RJD and even Left parties and decision on seat sharing for Lok Sabha polls in Jharkhand would be taken taking into confidence all parties.”

Soren replying to media at Circuit House in Bengabandh in Giridih district yesterday had said that JMM is the biggest party after the ruling BJP in the state and should have lion share of seat in the ‘mahagathbandhan’.

Congress state president, Ajoy Kumar also said that they would announce leader of mahagathbandhan soon.

“We will announce leader of mahagathbandhan soon. We do not see much problem as all the opposition parties are determined to oust BJP” said Ajoy Kumar adding on a lighter vein, “It will happen much before the meeting between chief minister Raghubar Das and cabinet minister Saryu Roy.”

Kumar claimed that the law and order has hit an all time low with broad daylight incidents of crime becoming a regular feature.  He added that the situation at Jharkhand has become a matter of great concern. He also said that the criminals have regained confidence after law and order machinery has gone for a toss.

On the other hand, the state's failed intelligence and police administration are offering challenges after the criminals are executing one after the other. There is an atmosphere of chaos across the country.
