The number of dengue-afflicted persons in Uttarakhand keeps steadily rising in Uttarakhand, deepening worry of the State Health department. On Wednesday, 21 new cases of the disease have come up, taking the number of the afflicted to 389 so far this season. Two patients both from Chauda Bigha area (near Rishikesh) of Tehri have succumbed to the disease so far.
On Wednesday, the health department has found seven cases of the disease from Haridwar, resulting in the rise in the number of the afflicted to 147 in the district. In Dehradun, 97 samples have so far been found positive for dengue following confirmatory Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test. The Chief Medical )Officer (CMO) Dehradun Dr S K Gupta said that the directive has been issued to all the doctors to inform the health department of the suspected dengue cases.
He also advised the people to wear full-sleeves during the daytime to prevent exposure to the Aedes mosquito which bites during daytime.
Dengue is a viral infection spread by the mosquito Aedes Aezypti popularly known as Tiger Mosquito.
