The Baghsewania police nabbed a drug peddler and recovered cannabis weighing 500 gm worth Rs 10000 from his possession from near Ahmedpur Mazar on Monday.

Acting on a tip off regarding miscreant carrying drugs three police teams were formed and rushed to the area where the miscreant was with drugs and nabbed the accused. Cannabis weighing 500 gm worth Rs 10000 was recovered from his possession.

The nabbed accused was identified as Shailu alias Shailesh Kanjar (33) of Baghsewania.

In the initial investigation when he was quizzed he confessed that the he was involved in selling drugs in the area and nearby areas.

The source of drugs obtained and selling of drugs in the areas have to be investigated.

The delivery of consignment was provided in remote areas near the city. He has been involved in selling of drugs for long.

Accused has been involved in criminal activities and is a watch list criminal with Baghsewania police. He has been booked for 38 major offences by Baghsewania police.

He would be questioned on other crimes in the past few months in Baghsewania and nearby areas.

After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have started further investigation.

The accused is involved in selling and transporting drugs illegally and his accomplices who have helped in providing and selling drugs would be identified and nabbed in the further investigation, said police.
