MP Nagar police have booked a female accountant of a transport company for misappropriation of funds of Rs 10 lakh in the month of December last year; a complaint was lodged on Tuesday after the company found the discrepancy in the accounts during audit.
Police said that the owner of the Harsh Transport private limited Kamal Panjwani lodged a complaint against Geeta Singh who used to work as accountant with his firm and left the job earlier in this year of misappropriation of funds of Rs 10 lakh.
In his complaint, Panjwani stated that the Geeta Singh used to work as accountant and left the job in the month of February this year.
She was working for the past three years and she was assigned for transactions with all bank accounts which the firm holds. In the audit which was conducted in the first week of October it was found that on December 30, 2017 two transactions of Rs 5 lakh each were done but not related to firms work.
The details were sought from HDFC bank and it was found that Geeta got the amount transferred in her personal bank account.
After it was found that the funds were transferred in her personal bank account a complaint was lodged with the police.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC and started further investigation.
The police suspect that the accused might have embezzled more funds which would be revealed in the further investigation.
